Exciting Finchley based Polish Lightweight Marcin Marczak is set to professionally debut, at the Olivia Goodwin Main Events promoted ‘Search & Destroy’ double title headed event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, on Saturday, 4th June 2011, against Earl’s Court battler Bheki ‘Becks-Tiger’ Moyo.
A long time amateur boxer in his home country, Marcin moved to London five years ago to work as a personal trainer, as well as progress his amateur career. A fortunate move to City Boxer, a mainly White Collar Boxing club in Southwark, see Marcin’s boxing aspirations move forward apace, which in turn lead to him making the decision to move to the professional ranks.
Following a testing sparring session, at the TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, Marcin spoke briefly on his upcoming debut, “I’ve waited quite a long time for the fight, I’m not young, I’m twenty nine. It’s everything I’ve been working for and looking forward to my debut.
I started boxing as a junior in Poland. There are many Boxing clubs in the town I used to box, there’s good condition for boxing where I lived.
Five years ago I came to England and started Boxing for English clubs. Then I start working for a White Collar Boxing club, City Boxer club. Then they offered me a boxing match and they said about professional boxing so I said yes, why not.
Then I met Garry (Janes), he’s my trainer and then we start working harder and harder and then I said yes why not and that’s how it happen.
It’s up to me, it’s in my hands so I now boxing in June at York Hall. What can I do, I’m ready for that.”
Marcin’s coach Garry Janes then added, “He was due to fight in March, we started training really properly around Christmas. Had a really nice build up to the fight and was ready to go and unfortunately the fight didn’t happen, so we ticked over keeping him fit until we started building him up fro the June fight, so he’s super, super fit and ready to go.
Because he missed out on that fight we’re really keen for this fight.”
Marcin Marczak versus Bheki Moyo will feature on the undercard of Olivia Goodwin’s Main Events promoted ‘Search & Destroy’, double title headlined event will take place at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 4th June 2011.

Definition of TIMING
Definition of TIMING
By Beverly Cooper
Timing is the time when something happens or the spacing of events in time. Some typical uses are:
*The ability to select the precise moment for doing something for optimum effect (a boxer with impeccable timing) LOVE IT; It’s in the dictionary!
*The regulation of occurrence, pace, or co-ordination to achieve a desired effect, as in music, the theater, athletics, or mechanics.
* The act of measuring the elapsed time of something or someone, often at athletic events such as swimming or running, where participants aretimed with a device such as a stopwatch.
*Stock market timing as an investment strategy.
*Comic timing by a comedian or actor, an element of humor.
Joe Gans, “The Old Master”, said, “Timing and Distance are the two most important words in Boxing.”
Legendary Trainer Ray Arcel said, “Boxing is brains over brawn. I don’t care how much ability you’ve got as a Fighter. If you can’t think, you’re just another bum in the park.”
The Hall-of-Fame Trainer, Freddie Roach confirmed that “Pacquiao is still a bit out of timing but he said that this is just normal since the pound-for-pound king is still not on his 100 per cent condition after taking a break.”
And that was just on the 31st of March… Wonder where he stands on that now?
Joe Louis was a near nitty-gritty flawless Boxer. Louis held his hands in perfect position, kept his chin down and was never off balance. Joe was a Master of Distance and Deception. The Beauty of Timing !
So what classifies as Boxing/Fighting “skill” ?
True skill in Boxing/Fighting is not athletic ability alone. There are two main pre-requisites that make one skillful in Boxing/Fighting; the first is the ability to think in the ring, and the second is a Boxer’s/Fighter’s Sense of Timing and Distance. If a Boxer/Fighter has ring smarts and the ability to correctly gauge and judge distance then he has the potential to be a “Successful” Boxer/Fighter. It is these attributes that allow him to use his physical assets and boxing style to have control in the ring.
*If you are a counter puncher a “Successful” Boxer/Fighter can make you lead. Because he understands Distance and throws perfectly Timed punches, whether he is at close or long range.
*If you are an aggressive fighter, a “Successful” Boxer/Fighter can make you back up. Then he’ll make your punch miss and follow up on his opportunity with a perfectly Timed, perfectly Distanced counter that not only scores, but also does heavy damage.
*A “Successful” Boxer/Fighter can make his opponent do things he doesn’t want to do.. Out of pure protection; he knows all the spots; solar plexus, and the liver; his Timing… he is going to hit you and make it count ! By staying in punching position - by either stepping to the side, slipping and countering, or blocking and countering. Out-thinking your opponent, that is the lifeblood of understanding the skill of Boxing/Fighting. And lord have mercy.. Don’t hesitate.. Hesitation can be fatal to a Boxer/Fighter - it can cost you the fight !
There is “Timing” in Life: Being at the ‘right’ place at the ‘right’ time.
There is “Timing” in Ballet: always 8 counts (beats) in a bar in ballet music, UNLESS the dance is a waltz. So I guess I would say ballet music is 8/4 Timing. Timing and Tempo are the same in dance as in Boxing/Fighting.. Both Lead to a Strong, Deliberate Finish !
There is “Timing” in Comedy: is the use of rhythm, tempo and pausing to enhance comedy and humor. The pacing of the delivery of a joke can have a strong impact on its comedic effect.
There is “Timing” in Business: Knowing when to ‘buy’ low and ‘sell’ high.
Timing is not something to be necessarily learned; it’s something to be found. Yes, one can learn a very elementary Timing, however, this “taught” method can hardly be compared to that of a Boxer/Fighter who truly has the DNA of a Warrior. This Warrior will always shine the brightest. The rhythm of the body that is felt, experienced and practiced.

Roach Enjoys Culiacan, Mexico
Top boxing trainer Freddie Roach has found a new home in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico where he has been for the past two weeks preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for his next fight. “I have found this to be a very great experience. I did not know what to expect but it was been great. The people are very nice and to my surprise they know who I am. I thought the only other place as was known outside of the US was the Philippines,” said Roach with a smile. Roach is getting Chavez Jr. the January 29 fight against Billy Lyell, that will take place in the Banorte Soccer Stadium in Culiacan.
“People come up to me and ask me to take care of Julio and get him ready to fight for a championship. They ask for my autograph and take pictures with me. This people are very hospitable,” said Roach, who loves the food and has made some trips to nearby beaches in Mazatlan and Tata.
“I just love their sea food and I have even begun to eat their hot salsa and I also like the Mexican Banda music that is so popular here, it has a very unique sound with all the instruments they play with,” said Roach.
But Roach has also worked very hard with Chavez Jr. during his stay in Culiacan and was more than happy with the facilities.
“We everything we need here and Julio is working very hard. He will be ready for the fight and for Billy Lyell,” added Roach.
