Floyd Out of P4P List
Floyd Out of P4P List, Pacquiao Fame Soars More
By Jeremy Mailman
The Bible of Boxing “Ring Magazine” just dropped Floyd Mayweather Jr. from their Pound-for-Pound list due to his boxing inactivity for one year. And the other P4P lists of prominent boxing news media are expected to follow suit. Floyd’s name being scratched out of the prominent list would make Pacquiao’s fame to soar more.
There were feelers that Floyd would make a comeback and fight again before the year ends – a rumor and could be a futile attempt to preserve his P4P top status. But one year of hibernation is just too long. The only good thing so far with Floyd is his precious no-loss record. The rest of the news about him are pending lawsuits, doing racial rants and continuing baseless and false accusations of PED use by his top rival Pacquiao, hanging out in bars with his money, gambling big time in casinos, being booed by the crowd and chants for him to fight Pacquiao. Nothing is really going good with Floyd – except, of course, his well-preserved 41-0 numbers.
With Ring Mag’s booting out of Floyd from their list, Manny Pacquiao’s superstar status soars even more. Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, reported that the Mayweather’s baseless accusations and defaming statements against his top ward affected hugely his commercial saleability especially with the brand endorsements. Arum felt that Pacquiao could have had even more if the Mayweathers did not start these rumors that tainted Pacquiao’s good image. On these grounds, the lawsuits filed by Pacquiao against Floyd and other people are gaining more weight.
Pacquiao is lucky enough to have Nike’s confidence in him as one of their top image models.
How can Floyd be still one of this year’s top boxers when he is idle for 12 long months?
The Mayweather family’s pronouncement of Floyd planning to fight before the year ends is just another talk and maybe an attempt to to influence the top sports writers and analysts to preserve his P4P status.
It’s like trying to be on top of Manny Pacquiao by just talking and defaming him, downplaying Manny’s achievements, falsely accusing him of doping and making racial rants against him and his people.
Floyd’s name erased from the mythical P4P list will slowly and eventually make him a bit of a forgotten fighter who failed to fight the best at the most clamored time and place.

Roach Enjoys Culiacan, Mexico
Top boxing trainer Freddie Roach has found a new home in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico where he has been for the past two weeks preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for his next fight. “I have found this to be a very great experience. I did not know what to expect but it was been great. The people are very nice and to my surprise they know who I am. I thought the only other place as was known outside of the US was the Philippines,” said Roach with a smile. Roach is getting Chavez Jr. the January 29 fight against Billy Lyell, that will take place in the Banorte Soccer Stadium in Culiacan.
“People come up to me and ask me to take care of Julio and get him ready to fight for a championship. They ask for my autograph and take pictures with me. This people are very hospitable,” said Roach, who loves the food and has made some trips to nearby beaches in Mazatlan and Tata.
“I just love their sea food and I have even begun to eat their hot salsa and I also like the Mexican Banda music that is so popular here, it has a very unique sound with all the instruments they play with,” said Roach.
But Roach has also worked very hard with Chavez Jr. during his stay in Culiacan and was more than happy with the facilities.
“We everything we need here and Julio is working very hard. He will be ready for the fight and for Billy Lyell,” added Roach.

Freddie Roach about Pacquiao vs Mosley
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach has finally spoken about Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent Shane Mosley. In AP article Roach, explained that his choice for Pacquiao’s next fight was Juan Manuel Marquez not Mosley.
“No, my first option was Marquez. I think he deserved a third fight [with Pacquiao], but now everything is left up to negotiations. Bob Arum made a better deal with Mosley, and they said Marquez had asked for too much money.”
While Roach seems to have confidence in Pacquiao giving a better performance against Marquez in a third fight, Arum, on the other hand, was thinking about the money all the way and wanted to get the better cash for the Mosley match-up instead of putting on the arguably better fight with Marquez.
Pacquiao - Mosley , Now Official
ESPN has reported that it is official: Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao will be facing “Sugar” Shane Mosley in his next bout on May 7th. This is the same Mosley who went to Roach’s Wild Card Gym two years ago when he was ranked as the #1 welterweight and #3 on the pound for pound list and begged for a fight with Pacquiao. At the time Roach told Insidefights.com “I told him ‘no’ both times for the same two reasons: First there isn’t enough money there and second you’re too good a fighter.” Mosley’s previous fight before this entreaty to land a Pacquiao fight was a superb knockout victory over Antonio Margarito.
