- Haye: I’ll Beat The Klitschkos, Retire Like Lennox Lewis
WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is still planning to chase unification fights with both Klitschko brothers. Haye has vowed to retire by next October, which doesn’t leave him with a lot of time to get the fights done. He wants to fight each Klitschko and then retire in the same manner as his idol, former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.
“There’s a year to make those unification fights happen, win them and then retire at the top just like Lennox Lewis did. The brothers know I am the most dangerous person on the planet for them but I am sure the fights will happen and that I’ll win them,” Haye told The Sun. All this of course after his grudge fight with Audley Harrison on November 13 at the MEN Arena in Manchester.

Former two-time light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KO’s) could be facing International Boxing Federation (IBF) light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (21-0, 18 KO’s) in early 2011, according to boxing news from Steve Kim. Briggs demands Vitali resign as UNESCO Ambassador
Heavyweight title challenger Shannon Briggs has demanded that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko resign as Ambassador for UNESCO, citing comments attributed to Vitali that Briggs says trivializes asthma.
Shannon Briggs Statement: “We all know Dr. Klitschko holds a PHD in P.E, as he and his publicist remind us all the time. What many people don’t know is Klitschko holds a much more important distinction, as an Ambassador for UNESCO (United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization). Vitali Klitschko has disgraced this very important post with his ignorant and dangerous remarks about asthma not being a deadly disease and just a good excuse. Any real Doctor and certainly any educated member of UNESCO would know that over 300 million men, women and children suffer from asthma around the world and over 250,000 of them died last year alone. I apologize to all the parents, children, brothers and sisters of those who died from asthma last year for Vitali’s extremely insensitive and ignorant remarks. I hope what he said doesn’t cause even one child who may need help and treatment from asthma to not seek it due to “The Champ’s” dismissive remarks. UNESCO is about education, improving and saving lives, not about spreading ignorance and potentially endangering lives with misinformation.

Margarito Funds Olympic Boxers Dream
Antonio Margarito steps in to make a dream come true for four young Olympic boxing hopefuls.
Selling tamales, tortillas and bracelets to raise funds to send four local boxers to the 2010 National PAL Boxing Championships in San Antonio, Texas proved impossible for the families of the young Olympic hopefuls when their hard work produced less than $300. That is until Antonio Margarito came into the picture. When Margarito heard of the family’s misfortune he immediately offered to pay for round trip airfare and room accommodations for the fighters. When asked why he did it Margarito stated, “I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to have a dream crushed because you have no money.”
So on Tuesday Antonio presented a check to the fighters at his training camp at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, Ca. Obviously overjoyed and with one less thing to worry about, the fighters can now focus on their dream of representing the USA at the 2012 Olympics held in London.
Margarito is in intense preparation for his world super welterweight championship battle with Manny Pacquiao, scheduled for November 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
