Patrick Nielsen (12-0, 6 KOs) won the first title of his promising career, when he cruised to a clear points victory over Michael Schubov (13-7, 6 K0s). The 20-year-old Dane was in control throughout, doing damage with his right jab. He cleverly kept his opponent at bay and fired in southpaw lefts to body and head. In the ninth, a right sent Schubov down, but he scrambled back to his feet and lasted until the end. The scores were 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90 in favour of Nielsen. “I think Patrick did really well tonight,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “He was in full control and pleased his fans. He has a great future ahead and he proved it again tonight.”

Rodrigo Guerrero scored a controversial technical decision over Raul Martinez after six rounds in their vacant title fight rematch Saturday evening at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico. Scores were 57-56 (twice) and 59-54 in their aborted contest, which ended after six rounds when an accidental headbutt left Martinez with a nasty gash above his right eye. Guerrero scored a knockdown in the third round, and was the aggressor throughout the bout. Martinez was the more accurate boxer.

Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook took a significant step towards a world title shot in the new year with a comprehensive stoppage win over Poland’s Rafal Jackiewicz. - Brook’s WBA Inter-Continental title was on the line against Jackiewicz, but more importantly the fight doubled up as an eliminator for a shot at the WBA ruler Viacheslav Senchenko. Brook, now boasts a perfect record of 25 wins and no losses. – From the start Jackiewicz was unable to launch any significant offense. The one-sided fight was finally waved off by referee Howard Foster at 2:36. It was the first time Jackiewicz has been stopped. Brook said after the fight that he never needed to leave second gear to win.

Zaveck, who had been in the fight the whole way, suffered cuts to both eyes during a hectic fifth session, with the right eye swelling almost shut before the sixth round could get underway. - Unbeaten IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen (16-0-1, 11 KOs) dropped Aaron Pryor, Jr. (16-4, 11 KOs) in round three and went on to defend his belt by scores of 117-111 on all cards.

Fuentes went down at the end of round nine, but recovered during the break. Scores were 114-112, 114-112 for Fuentes and 114-112 for Garcia.

Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (18-0, 18KOs) continued his unbeaten streak against overwhelmed opponents. Wilder’s right hand found Dominique Alexander (20-13-1, 9KOs) in the second round to score a TKO win. Wilder peppered Alexander with a series of jabs in the first round, and began to let his hands go in the second. At the start of the second, he dropped Alexander who managed to beat the count. But Wilder finished him off a moment later with a hard right.
