Graham Earl Hints At Early Morby-Cadman Title Rematch
By Rio
London - Tuesday, 25th January 2011
Former World Champion, turned promoter, Graham Earl today hinted at the possibility of a rematch, between Portsmouth’s Paul Morby and Essex’s Daniel ‘The Slick’ Cadman, after their Southern Area Super Middleweight Title clash on Saturday being declared a draw by referee Jeff Hines.
Jeff Hines really had his work cut out as every round was close, many far too close to call. Whilst his decision was probably the fairest, a large percentage of those ringside disagreed having felt Cadman, who had been the far more aggressive of the pair, had done enough to lift the title.
This opinion wasn’t restricted to Cadman supporters as became clear when Morby’s manager-promoter Graham Earl spoke earlier today “I’d been running around so didn’t get to see the whole fight, but what I saw was that the fight seemed to be going Daniel Cadman’s way
Obviously I manage and promote Paul Morby so having a draw was good for me, as he lives to fight another day really.
It did look like he (Paul Morby) was coming on stronger in the final couple of rounds, maybe that was their tactics. I did see, I think it was the ninth round, and Paul seemed to be landing some heavy shots.
I think that now Paul’s had this wake up call, he’ll work harder so that we can look to move him on, maybe one more defense, which could well be a rematch in the near future with Daniel Cadman, then we’ll move Paul on to bigger and better things.”
The prospect of a rematch between these two closely matched battlers is sure to please the Cadman camp more than Morby’s, after all the draw did enable Morby to retain the title.
Graham Earl is expected to be announcing the details of his next show shortly, which may or may not include Morby- Cadman II for the Southern Area Super Middleweight title.

The Ying Yang Kick Boxing Club was set up in 1996 by Master Noel Mercieca a 4th Dan Black Belt and is located in the town of Fgura.

Ying Yang is also home to one of the leading Kick Boxers on the island - Daniel “The Jet” Zahra – trained by Master Mercieca - Daniel has fought both as an amateur & semi pro and has won several international tournaments, such as the WKN European and world Championships titles.

Kickboxing Malta - Daniel ‘The Jet’ Zahra
Daniel Zahra is probably the most successful home grown kick boxing artist to come out of the Maltese islands to date.
Daniel ‘The Jet’ Zahra, was born on the 19th December 1985.
At the tender age of 10, he started practicing soccer. After some time he decided to switch to the martial arts discipline after being inspired by a movie. With help from his cousin, he enrolled with the Ying Yang Kickboxing Club. Daniel was taken under the wing of Master Noel Mercieca, a 4th Dan Black Belt in Kickboxing and club founder.
Daniel had his baptism of fire on the international platform in 1996 at an international kickboxing competition organised in Malta. Daniel lost his first international encounter to an English opponent on points.
Daniel stepped up physical preparation and focused more on his technique. He was by now a regular face in the local combat sport scene and had won the national kickboxing championships in his weight division several times.
In 2002, Under the guidance of club coach and mentor Master Noel Mercieca, Daniel excepted an invitation to compete in England and challenge for the European Title in his weight division which he won by points.
.
From this point on Daniel ‘The Jet’ Zahra became unstoppable in the kickboxing amateur scene both locally and on the international platform.
2002 to 2009 he was the Malta National champion in the Open-Weight Category. In this category, weighing just 72 kilos he took on opponents from all weight classes. He also held the ‘National Best Fighter Title’ twice in a row.
In 2006 he again participated for the European Title in England winning by points in his weight category.
In 2007, Daniel started competing under the banner of the “World Kickboxing Network (WKN).”
In October 2007 the Daniel defeated his French opponent Adrian Lafauric for the WKN European title. The fight was held in Malta and signaled the start of Zahra’s rise under the WKN.
In August 2008 in a UK international competition Daniel switched to full contact without protective gear. Daniel won the match with a Technical Knock-Out just one minute into the first round against a former kickboxing professional.
.
On the 19 September 2024 the WKN organised a world cup in Malta. Daniel again succeeded in taking the World Champion with a Technical Knock-Out in the middle-weight category after defeating Furleton of Northern Ireland.
In January 2010 for the first time ever the WKN held a K1 (Semi Pro) European title match in Malta, with Daniel ‘The Jet’ Zahra challenging for the middleweight title against Mohamed Jama from Holland. Daniel defeated his opponent to take the European title.
In April of 2010, Daniel ‘The Jet’ Zahra, went over to Belfast, Ireland to defend his title against Mark Bird from Northern Ireland. He retained his title after defeating his Irish opponent on points.
.
.
..
Under the World Kickboxing Network federation, Daniel holds to this day a European and World Title in kickboxing and two European Titles in K1. With his experience in this discipline, Daniel is ready to walk the last mile towards becoming a professional fighter.
..
Recently WKN World and European amateur champion Daniel “The Jet” Zahra, of the Ying Yang kickboxing club, Malta, has been nominated for the Maltese, ‘Sportsman of the Year Award.’
Boxing - Daniel Ponce de Leon
It’s not a matter of if Daniel Ponce de Leon will enforce his mandatory status against previous conqueror Juan Manuel Lopez, but when he will elect to do so.- Ponce de Leon could find himself fighting for a title a lot sooner than he and his handlers anticipated being the case. With the news of plans being pushed back at least a year in regards to Lopez squaring off with Yuriorkis Gamboa, the rest of the featherweight division is no longer on hold, now able to line up for title shots two at a time. — If he has his way, Ponce de Leon could possibly wind up no worse than second in line for another crack at Lopez. If not him, then Gamboa will certainly do. — “At this time I would like to have one more tune-up fight and then I’ll be ready for either one,” Ponce de Leon stated, shortly after dispatching Sergio Medina in seven rounds last Saturday in Veracruz, Mexico”.
