Lucian Bute Vs Jesse Brinkley

IBF super middleweight world champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KOs) faced off with mandatory challenger Jesse Brinkley (35-5-5, 22 KOs) at a news conference Wednesday in Montreal for their world title clash on Friday at the Bell Centre. “I’m ready,” vowed the unbeaten champion. “We spent six weeks in Florida to train. I’m prepared. I took it seriously and it will be quite a show.” Brinkley warned Bute not to count him out. “It doesn’t bother me that people think I’m the underdog,” said Brinkley. “Lucian has his hands full with me.”

Bute is defending his super middleweight belt in his adopted homeland of Canada against Jesse Brinkley, an honest pugilist if there ever was one and a man who has revived his career since leaving “The Contender” by sharply and entertainingly outboxing and outfighting Curtis Stevens earlier this year. On paper, he is no match for Bute’s power, speed and versatility.

  • Vitali Klitschko looks really slow in media workout By Dave Lahr: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) looked as slow as molasses in the media workout today in Frankfurt, Germany. Klitschko, 39, danced around the ring, with music playing and tons of reporters snapped photos and took video of it. But Klitschko’s foot movement and hand speed were totally missing. Vitali honestly looked like he was punching in slow motion as he flicked out painfully slow arm punches. That’s pretty much all Vitali threw was arm punches as he danced to the music and frolicked around. He threw punches for awhile at his trainer while was holding puncher’s mitts, but it was still mostly arm punches that Vitali was throwing. (Source Boxingnews24).

  • Unbeaten 21-year-old Kazuto Ioka a Japanese light-flyweight prospect, WBC#7/WBA#9 (6-0, 4 KOs), 108, impressively acquired the vacant Japanese national 108-pound belt in a display that proved that boxing is indeed the “Sweet Science” boxing scientifically, hitting without getting hit by Masayoshi Segawa (19-3, 8 KOs), a durable southpaw, whom he floored in the third and was finally awarded a TKO win because of Segawa’s bad gash caused by a legal shot at 1:57 of the tenth and final round on Sunday in Osaka, Japan.

  • Lucian Bute Vs Jesse Brinkley — Montreal — On October 15th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, current IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute, will fight mandatory contender Jesse Brinkley. For Brinkley, not only is it his shot to become champion, it’s also chance to make history in his home state. Yerington is a small farming town in Northwestern Nevada. A population of about three thousand, this is where Brinkley was born and raised

Boxing has practically become Nevada’s state sport. Thousands of world-title fights have taken place there over the years, and most agree that Las Vegas is currently the Mecca for big fights. So many title fights, yet it is believed that not one of the great champions who fought in Nevada was a Nevadan. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Southern California, all hotbeds of boxing have their home champions and legends. Curiously enough, this is not the same for the “Silver State”. Brinkley wants to change that. - “I want to bring a world title home.” says Brinkley. “It would mean so much to me. My family, friends, fans and supporters back home deserve it too.”

.

  • Ryan “The Irish Outlaw” — Undefeated WBC USNBC cruiserweight titleholder Ryan “The Irish Outlaw” Coyne (16-0 6 KOs) will next appear in the ring on the Devon Alexander-Tim Bradley undercard on January 29th. “I will fight anybody out there. This was a stay busy fight and I did what I had to do and I took care of business,” Coyne stated minutes after his second round KO over Shane Steele (7-3, 5KOs) on Saturday in his hometown of St. Louis , MO.- “I want to step up my level of competition on Devon’s (Alexander) undercard,” he added. “Let’s see who wants to step up and fight me on January 29th. Anybody who wants it, can get it.” Coyne is looking to face a top 20 challenger in his next fight. It is rumored that the Alexander-Bradley unification title bout will land in Miami, Florida.

Coyne successfully defended his title, destroying challenger Shane Steele by way of a crushing, 2nd round knockout. Coyne, who concentrated on both his defense and power in training for this fight, displayed the new focus, picking off shots with his gloves, sitting down on his punches and firing his ripping right hooks.

This will not be pleasing to boxing fans as the talent and the credibility of the Super Six lies in Dirrell Vs Ward fight. Dan Rafael of ESPN, broke this news, saying “Yet another reason the WBC is disgusting: 1st it says Ward-Dirrell is for vacant 168, Froch-Abe 4 #1.
