  • John Nolasco is set to take on Andy Murray — The green light was finally given for the fight between European lightweight champion Andy Murray (21-0, 12 KOs) and his dangerous Dominican rival John Nolasco (18-4-4, 8 KOs). Indeed, the Irish Embassy in Washington DC finally gave Nolasco the visa to travel to Ireland where he will clash with Murray in Letterkeny on October 2nd after over three weeks of uncertainty. Nolasco is excited by the fact that Murray who has never fought a Latin boxer. “This will be a fight between a man and a boy,” said the 34-year-old Dominican, “the man is me and I’m going to give the boy – Murray – a good spanking. His record is pretty enough but he has never faced the kind of opposition I have faced.”

Rafael Lantigua, Nolasco’s new manager said, “Johnny is finally going to fulfill his promise as a pro when he beats Andy Murray in Ireland come October 2nd. His skills are intact and so is his physique. All he needs now is to take advantage of this opportunity and beat that young man. And that is just what he’s going to do.”

  • Saul “Canelo” Alvarez going up & “Sugar” Shane Mosley on his way out says Sulaiman. — After Mosley’s two recent performances, against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Mora, WBC President Jose Sulaiman thinks the former three division champion is on his way out, and Alvarez is starting to become a force. Both Alvarez and Mosley are promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. Within two or three fights, Sulaiman said Alvarez will be ready for a major title shot.

“Mosley is on his way out, and ‘Canelo’ is coming in. But ‘Canelo’ is still two or three fights away before he’s ready to fight for a world title,” Sulaiman said.

  • Amir Khan on Ricky Hatton – Decision of the “British Boxing Board of Control” too harsh. — During a Thursday hearing, the BBBoC stripped Hatton of his license to box and his license as a boxing manager.

The BBBoC allowed him to keep his license as a promoter. Hatton runs regular shows in the UK with his Hatton Promotions company. Hatton was punished for the recent video which showed him snorting several lines of cocaine. The Manchester fighter has since entered a rehab to clean up his life.

Khan speaking to ESPN UK.said ”I bet there are footballers and cricketers who have done the same silly things, made the same mistakes as Ricky but they are still playing their sports,” - “It all seems very harsh and it makes the situation around Ricky look 100 times worse than it is. It’s a real shame what happened and I am 100 percent behind him.”

“He knows he has done wrong, the likes of Ricky and Joe Calzaghe know they have done wrong. After a few drinks we might all do stupid things” said Khan.

  • Julio Cesar Chavez Jr could face winner of the Sergio Martinez-Paul Williams fight. — WBC President Jose Sulaiman has stated that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. could easily get the opportunity for a mandatory shot at the winner of the Sergio Martinez-Paul Williams rematch, which takes place on November 20 in Atlantic City. Chavez is the WBC’s silver champion at the weight. He defends that interim-type title on December 4 against Alfonso Gomez.

  • Freddy Hernandez — According to BoxingScene, Multiple sources in Mexico are reporting that Freddy Hernandez (29-1, 20KOs) is under serious consideration to fight WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (26-0, 20KOs) on November 27. Hernandez returned last week to stop Mike Anchondo in four rounds. Hernandez has not been beaten since a split decision loss to Golden Johnson in 2005.
