WBCBoxing.tv (http://wbcboxing.tv/index_On.html) will present a championship webcast – free of charge – tonight at 11:30PM ET/8:30PM PT. In the main event – scheduled for 12 rounds at Jose Cuervo Salon in Polanco, Mexico – WBC Silver super flyweight champion Oscar Ibarra, 24-4 with 16 knockouts, of Mexico City, will make his second defense of the title against Junichiro Sugita, 16-4 with 7 knockouts, of Tokyo, Japan. (Please note: the webcast is not available in Mexico.)
The 25 year-old Ibarra, ranked No. 3 by the WBC, won the vacant title in July, 2010, and made his first title defense three months later in October. He has now won 10 fights in a row, the last nine by knockout, since his last loss in December, 2008. He is also a former Mexican national super flyweight and North American Boxing Federation and WBC Latino flyweight champion.
Sugita, 27 years old, is 2-1 in his last three fights. He is fighting outside of Japan for the first time.
Also featured on the webcast, WBC Youth super featherweight champion Dante Jardon, 14-1 with 13 knockouts, of Mexico City, will defend the title against Rene Gonzalez, 28-3-1 with 22 knockouts, of Managua, Nicaragua, scheduled for 12 rounds.
Jardon won the vacant title in December, 2009, and has made three successful title defenses in his last three fights. Ranked No. 13 by the WBC, he has won 13 fights in a row, 12 by knockout, since his only loss in his second pro fight. Gonzalez is a former WBC Youth lightweight champion.
The fights will be televised live in Mexico on Televisa-Channel 5 at 10:30 P.M. (22:30 hrs) Central Time.
