Vitali Klitschko Dominates Shannon Briggs

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KOs) punished game and brave but outclassed former world champion Shannon Briggs (51-6-1, 45 KOs) over twelve one-sided rounds on Saturday night at the o2 Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The first round was all Klitschko as he landed several hard right hands. More domination for Klitschko as the bout progressed with Briggs was unable to get untracked offensively. Strong round for Vitali in round five, while Briggs displayed a world class jaw. Klitschko continued to break down Briggs, staggering him in the seventh. Briggs wobbled back to his corner after being punished further in round nine. Vitali beat Shannon from pillar to post in round ten but the bloodied Briggs somehow absorbed it and then weathered the storm to the final bell. Scores were 120-107, 120-107, 120-105.
