The finals of the Lemisia boxing tournament were held in Limassol \Cyprus on Sunday 19th (October 2008). Uan Bonsfield in his first ever competition both at local and international level placed first in the 91 KG weight class.
The countries participating in this international boxing tournament were Cyprus, Greece, Serbia, Russia, Malta, England and Corfu. Uan was drawn against Cyprus and Greece. Uan won his encounter with Niclaou Yiannis of Cyprus 3-0, lost his encounter with Thoma Andreas of Cyprus on a split decision and won the final against Stefanidis Christos of Greece 3-0.
Another Maltese boxer who stood out was young Keith Azzopardi (Juniour Division) who although lost his match with Alex Vasiliou on a split decision had the crowd tense with anticipation up to the last moments as both boxers were evenly matched.
The rest of the Maltese team Bernard Micallef, Daniel Micallef and Yousef Shah although not winning their matches gave a very good account of themselves, all their matches went the distance and none of their opponents out classed them.
