Charity Boxing Event on Wednesday 14th of September in Scott's parking area in St.Julian’s - Malta. In aid of the 'Puttinu Cares Cancer Support Group'.
Free entrance: This event is organized by the Dixon's Promotions in partnership with Malta Celebrity Boxing, which is run by local television personality Stephanie Chircop.
Stephanie who is a practitioner of the noble art herself said “we are trying to change the people's perception of boxing. It is no longer considered a dangerous sport but a wonderful art which takes us back to the very first Olympic Games”.
This event will consist of around six charity matches and a number of local business-men and other Maltese sportsmen and women are expected to go between the ropes to raise funds for “Puttinu Cares” a local charity supporting children with cancer.
The Puttinu Cares Cancer Support Group was set up in 2002 and began from an idea and a wish to offer a holistic approach of care for families who have children suffering from cancer. The founders of Puttinu Cares were Dr. Victor Calvagna and Mr.Rennie Zerafa.
Puttinu is a character created by Mt. Philip Farrugia Randon. He is an angel sent from heaven to take care of Toninu, a Maltese boy.
The first project of the group was to bring to life the dull children’s ward in the old St.Luke’s Hospital. With the help of volunteers and sponsors the ward was brightened up with vivacious colours and fun pictures for the children.
