Johnson Wants Haye - Than A Klitschko

Heavyweight contender Kevin Johnson (22-1-1, 9 KO’s) who lost by a unanimous decision to World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last December is calling on WBA heavyweight champion David Haye as his next opponent to fast track a Klitschko fight.
In an interview by Greg Leon at Boxingtalk.com, Johnson says “The target now is WBA champion David Haye. I understand that I have to reel a championship belt in order to get a Klitschko back in the ring. But I know without a doubt I would beat David Haye. No disrespect to Haye, but I believe I would stop him late. Haye is not as dangerous as Klitschko, which is probably why we haven’t seen that fight yet. I would love to fight David and see if he could change my opinion that Vitali is much better than him.”
The chances of Johnson getting Haye into the ring are between slim to none, Johnson's ranking has slipped down since his loss to Klitschko and he is not even ranked in the top 15 by any sanctioning body anymore and without a ranking Haye will most likely ignore Johnson.
The only way Johnston is going to get Klitschko back into the ring is by getting back into the top 15, so he needs to go after some of those top heavy weights and get some decent results to work himself into a position for a title shot.
As for his getting Hayes in the ring notion – these are just whimsy wishes on his part with little chance of success, With Haye talking about wanting to retire by 31, he’s going to probably try to get the most out of the remainder of his fights before he hangs up his gloves for good. Johnston may not have a top 15 ranking any more but he is better and more dangerous than many fighters ranked above him, a risk that Haye is unlikely to consider as he approaches his self set retirement deadline.
