Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico tied in the first place in Mayaguez
The boxers of Puerto Rico Jonathan Gonzalez and Enrique Collazo added their name to the list of medalists in the Central American and Caribbean Games by winning their respective matches in the quarterfinals, likewise Dominican boxers Roberto Navarro and Joel Cabrera added the necessary points to provide to tie at 11 points in yesterday's boxing.
Jonathan Gonzalez (PUR), 19 - Youth World Champion (51kg) easily dominated the Dominican William Alcantara 18-8 in a match which grew into a 9-2 advantage in the first round.
Collazo, also a representative of Puerto Rico staged a technical and defensive battle, beating, 3-1, to Nicaraguan Carlos Sequeira, in 75kg.
Roberto Navarro (Dom) defeated Julio Laguna (NCA) 16-2 at 57 kgs, securing the bronze in his category just like, Joel Cabrera, who won over (6-2 Denzil Salazar) (Tri) 91 kgs

Puerto Rico on top of the Game in Central American and Caribbean
Led by a masterful performance of Jose Pedraza, the Puerto Rico delegation shone tonight in the boxing tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games, winning four bouts and thus ensure an equal number of medals.
Pedraza, silver medalist in the the Last World Boxing Championship, explosively knocked out Barbado´s Omar Ward, while he was winning 5-0 in the first round. The Puertorican, favorite for the gold in his division.
Another boxer that the Puerto Rican fans enjoy was Camilo Perez, who moved nearer to the 54kg medal by dominating the Mexican widely Elias Emigdio by a score of 18-7. Perez, with an effective boxing, managed to establish its rhythm from the very first round, which ended 7-2 lead.
