Former three-division world champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel (46-3, 36 KOs) scored a third round KO over Álvaro Pérez (21-4-1, 12 KOs) in a super bantamweight bout “I promised (promoter) Fernando Beltran that my next fight would be for the super bantamweight world title. I’m back and ready to win my fourth title in different divisions and in 2012 will seek a rematch against Nonito Donaire,” stated Montiel. - Herrera – Velasquez – Herrera was dominated nearly every step of the way in this 10-round lightweight bout. Velasquez applied continuous pressure and refused to back down; Herrera did manage to rock Velasquez with a right hand to the chin, around midway through the bout. Velasquez momentarily wobbled, but quickly recovered and barely missed a step. However at the end the judges seemed to think that Herrera deserved to win, with only one judge scoring the card in favor of Velasquez. Herrera manages to remain unbeaten as his record advances to 21-0 (15KO) while A two-fight win streak comes to an end for Velasquez, as he falls to 18-12-1 (10KO) with the loss.

46 year old, former WBC heavyweight titleholder Oliver McCall, 56-11 37 (KOs), outpointed Damian Willis, 30-3-1 (23 KOs), over 10 rounds. The Atomic Bull simply absorbing his younger opponent’s blows and bullied him with on the inside. McCall seemed to be testing out Willis punching power for the first three rounds and then proceeded to unload with short punches thrown from both fists. Willis, 31, came in flabby around the midsection and by the fourth round, was fast running out of steam with every punch he threw. As the fight wore on, Willis’ punches began to lose serious power and started to bounce harmlessly off McCall’s head, while McCall rocked Willis each time he scored a direct hit. However Willis denied McCall the openings for more than one clean shot at a time by leaning and clinching, Scores were 97-93 and 96-94 (twice) all for McCall. The bout was staged by Savarese Boxing Promotions.
