Former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Bethuel Tyson Ushona (25-2-1, 8 KOs). Scores were 117-109, 117-109, 119-110. Zaveck said afterward that the victory is the first step towards re-capturing the world championship he lost to Andre Berto last September.

Light Heavyweight Denis Simcic (28-1, 14 KOs) outpointed Fatjon Murati (13-2-2, 3 KOs) over twelve rounds to claim the WBO European championship. Scores were 117-110, 117-111, 116-111. Murati deducted a point in round eleven.

The Newport traveller made a successful first British title defense with a unanimous points win against brave Paul Truscott at sold-out Ponds Forge Arena. Buckland dropped his Middlesbrough challenger with a body shot in round ten and took his record to 25-2 with the judges’ scoring 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110.

Former two-division world champion Zab Judah (42-7, 29 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over previously unbeaten Vernon Paris (26-1, 15 KOs). Time was 2:27. Judah was fast and powerful as he dominated the fight, which was an IBF jr welterweight eliminator.

Former WBC light heavyweight and IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz “Goral” Adamek (45-2, 28 KOs) made successful return to the ring in his first bout since challenging Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight title, winning a ten round unanimous decision over Nagy Aguilera (17-7, 12 KOs). Unbeaten Danny Garcia (23-0, 14 KOs) claimed the vacant WBC super lightweight world title with a twelve round unanimous decision over four-division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36 Kos). Garcia outworked Morales over the second half of the fight knocking down him down with a left hook in the eleventh to win by scores of 117-110, 116-112, 118-109. Morales lost the WBC super lightweight world title on the scale Friday.

Three-division world champion Fernando “Kochulito” Montiel (47-4-2, 37 KOs) scored a ninth round KO over Indonesian Angky Angkota (25-7, 14 KOs) in a jr. featherweight clash. Montiel dropped Angkota for the count with a body shot in the ninth to get the win at 2:32. “Tonight I showed that I am back. And to all of the people who believed in me, I want to tell you that we’re once again going after the big fights. I hope that later this year I will get a world title opportunity and capture the fourth title that we both desire,” Montiel said.

Jeremy Lantz : In a mixup of sorts, respected philippine promoter Michael Aldeguer expected Genaro ‘Poblanito’ Garcia, not Genaro ‘El Panteriya’ Garcia, a lightweight with a 10W-11L record to be the opponent of Rey Bautista to arrive into the philippines. Due to the setback the promoter refunded all of those in attendance what they had paid; making this a free event. (Boxrec) - ALA Promotions has announced it is “taking legal action against the person behind this act of deceit” in reference to a Mexican agent identified as Victor Hugo Correa who was contracted to send Genaro “Poblanito” Garcia who had a record of 38-8 with 22 knockouts and had fought eight world champions  but instead switched fighters and sent an incompetent fighter known as Genaro “Panterita” Garcia.

Southpaw Oosthuizen (18-0-1, 13 KOs) gave a great performance as he dominated from the first round against Yannick (14-2, 7 KOs) who was born in Cameroon but fights out of Australia.

Bantamweight  Jamie McDonnell beat Ivan Pozo by KO 2 / 12 – Time: 2:11 – EBU (European) bantamweight title (supervisor: Pertti Augustin)

Heavyweight Matt Skelton beat Tom Dallas by TKO– Round 5.

In the main event, European bantamweight belt holder Jamie McDonnell (19-2-1, 8 KOs) scored a second round knockout over former flyweight world title challenger Ivan Pozo (32-7-1, 20 KOs). After McDonnell connected with a body shot, Pozo went to a knee for the count. Time was 2:11. 45-year-old former world heavyweight title challenger Matt Skelton (26-6, 21 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over 6’6 British prospect Tom Dallas (15-2, 11 KOs). Skelton, a former British, Commonwealth and European titleholder, beat Dallas in a one sidedshow. The fight was waved off at 1:00 of the fifth round as Skelton had Dallas on the ropes. Dallas has now registered two straight losses.

Vicente Escobedo (25-5) won very convincingly against Lonnie Smith (14-3-2) of Las Vegas with three quick-succession knockdowns en route to a first-round TKO in their junior-lightweight main event. It was the 15th KO victory for the 2004 Olympian, who responded to Smith’s initial attack by unleashing a series of precise punches which had Smith down twice he then became defenceless sagging under a volley of blows in Escobedo’s corner when the referee mercifully ended it.

Rodrigo Guerrero scored a controversial technical decision over Raul Martinez after six rounds in their vacant title fight rematch Saturday evening at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico. Scores were 57-56 (twice) and 59-54 in their aborted contest, which ended after six rounds when an accidental headbutt left Martinez with a nasty gash above his right eye. Guerrero scored a knockdown in the third round, and was the aggressor throughout the bout. Martinez was the more accurate boxer.

Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook took a significant step towards a world title shot in the new year with a comprehensive stoppage win over Poland’s Rafal Jackiewicz. – Brook’s WBA Inter-Continental title was on the line against Jackiewicz, but more importantly the fight doubled up as an eliminator for a shot at the WBA ruler Viacheslav Senchenko. Brook, now boasts a perfect record of 25 wins and no losses. – From the start Jackiewicz was unable to launch any significant offense. The one-sided fight was finally waved off by referee Howard Foster at 2:36. It was the first time Jackiewicz has been stopped. Brook said after the fight that he never needed to leave second gear to win.

In a non-title super lightweight fight, former WBC super featherweight and lightweight world champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (56-7-2, 33 KOs) scored an explosive second round TKO over former WBA lightweight world titlist Jose “Quiebra Jicara” Alfaro (25-7, 22 KOs) at the Estadio Centenario in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. After being cut by a headbutt in round one, an enfuriated Soto launched a violent barrage of punches in round two that had Alfaro in trouble and turning his back to quit. The bout was then waved off. Jamie McDonnell (18-2-1, 7 KO’s) defeated Stuart Hall (11-1-1, 7 KO’s) by a 12 round decision to capture the British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles. The final judges’ scores were 116-113, 116-114 and 115-113. McDonnell pressured the harder hitting Hall by taking the fight to him and produced a high work-rate, making Hall look sluggish in the process.

IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-2, 18 KOs) was dethroned by former WBC champ Andre Berto (28-1, 21 KOs) in an entertaining fight that came to a halt, after the Slovenian was unable to continue due to a badly damaged right eye. Zaveck, who had been in the fight the whole way, suffered cuts to both eyes during a hectic fifth session, with the right eye swelling almost shut before the sixth round could get underway. - Unbeaten IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen (16-0-1, 11 KOs) dropped Aaron Pryor, Jr. (16-4, 11 KOs) in round three and went on to defend his belt by scores of 117-111 on all cards.
