- Top amateur star Roman Morales has signed an exclusive contract with world renowned promotional company Gary Shaw Productions. The touted former amateur champion will make his long awaited professional debut on February 4th at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California on the off-television undercard of Showtime’s Shobox: The New Generation tripleheader telecast.

- David Haye update — According to an news article in The Express, Adam Booth, trainer and manager of “The Hayemaker,” claims his fighter is now targeting the winner of the upcoming Vitali Klitschko-Odlanier Solis clash set for Germany in March. Haye is definitely going to fight in May, but it was widely assumed he would accommodate his mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev in his next fight. Now, according to Booth, the WBA champ hopes to face the March 19th winner – whether it’s Klitschko OR Solis.

- On March 4, lightweight contender and former U.S. Olympian Vicente Escobedo (22-3, 14 KOs) and streaking veteran Walter Estrada (38-13-1, 25 KOs) will meet in the 10 round main event at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. Also junior featherweight prospect Randy Caballero (7-0, 4 KOs) faces TBA in a six rounder. Telefutura will televise.

- WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan may have to wait for WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KO’s) and WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) to fight each other a second time before Khan gets a shot at the winner, because there reportedly is a rematch clause in the contract for the Bradley-Alexander fight on January 29th at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan.

- Monte Barrett vs. Charles Davis on Holyfield-Williams PPV card — Former world title challenger Monte “Two Gunz” Barrett is involved in a crossroads fight every time he steps into the ring. His next action is scheduled for January 22nd against Charles Davis in one of four pay-per-view fights on the “Redemption In America: The Journey Begins Now” card, headlined by living legend Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield (43-10-2, 28 KOs) defending his World Boxing Federation heavyweight title against challenger Sherman “Tank” Williams (34-11-2, 19 KOs), live from America’s resort — The Greenbrier’s Colonial Hall — in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

- WSB News – Today Saturday will mark the halfway point of the World Series of Boxing’s (WSB) inaugural season, but not before the Mexico City Guerreros travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on the Memphis Force. Both teams hope to try and gain some momentum for the second half of the season as both teams have struggled to find consistency in the early going.

- WBO super featherweight champion Ricky Burns (30-2, 7 KO’s) is going to be defending his World Boxing Organization title for the second time against #10 ranked Joseph Laryea (14-4, 11 KO’s) in March, according to Frank Warren. It looks like Burns is continuing the milking process which started with his first defense against little known fringe contender Andreas Evensen in December 2010.

- Pirog to fight on March 11th in Russia — Unbeaten newly crowned World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (17-0, 14 KO’s) will be fighting on March 11th against a still to be determined opponent at the DIVS, in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Pirog, 30, is coming off an impressive 5th round TKO over highly hyped middleweight hopeful Daniel Jacobs in April of 2010 in a battle for the vacant WBO belt.

- Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-2, 25 KO’s) will be fighting a stay busy tune-up fight against a still to be determined opponent on February 7th at the RWE Rhein-Ruhr Sporthalle, Muelheim, Nordhein-Westfalen, Germany. Abraham, 30, has been given permission from Showtime to take a fight outside of the Super Six tournament to use it as a tune-up for Abraham’s fight against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in May.

- Trainer Freddie Roach is confident that unbeaten middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will win a major championship in 2011 (By Jhonny Gonzalez). Roach is in Mexico training Chavez for his fight with Billy Lyell on January 29. If victorious, Chavez will possibly return in May against unbeaten Sebastian Zbik for the WBC interim-middleweight title. – “We work hard and long but there are still things that need to improve and we need to continue working. I’d like to see him face Billy Lyell on January 29 and then on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Mosley on May, and then yes, we want to face a champion because he’s ready,” said Roach to Sal Rodriguez. “I have no doubt that Julio will be a world champion. He is talented and has a charisma that will help people. If we can add to his legacy, people will talking about him for a long time.”

- WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch told BBC Radio 5 Live that he is “very optimistic” that his Super Six semi-final clash against Glen Johnson will take place on May 21st. Froch said he wants to bring the fight to England. No word on whether the other semi-final between WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham will land on the same date.
Chavez Jr. vs. Wolak is back on
The December 4th clash between top World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) and junior middleweight Pawel Wolak (27-1, 17 KO’s) is back on, according to Fightnews.com. The fight will be taking place at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. Earlier tonight, it was reported that Chavez couldn’t make the fight due to him contracting the flu. However, Fightnews says that they were contacted by Chavez’s Top Rank promoters and they said the fight is still on.

- Markussen destroys Ribic — Rudy Markussen (35-2, 22 KOs) displayed his famed and feared punching power at the TV2 Fight Night in Herning on Saturday night when he destroyed Dejan Ribic (19-2, 7 KOs) in the first round. The Hardhitter knocked his opponent down with a left and then again two more times with thunderous body shots. “I felt in great shape,” Markussen said. “Ribic said he was not afraid of my power but that did not do him any good. It was great to fight in front of the fans in Herning and I already look forward to the next TV2 Fight Night. This was my real comeback tonight and there is a lot more to come, I can promise.”

- Chavez Jr wants showdown with Cotto — According to WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Top Rank’s CEO, Bob Arum, promised him a March 2011 showdown with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.. It seems that Chavez doesn’t care about the venue. He’s open to fighting Cotto in New York’s Yankee Stadium. — Before a Cotto fight can happen, Chavez must first overcome the challenge of Alfonso Gomez on December 4 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Chavez is training hard with Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.

- Gonzalez defeats Marte — Junior middleweight boxer Eliezer Gonzalez (9-0, 4KO) continued his undefeated run over the weekend by scoring a a convincing knockout in the first round over Dominican boxer Valerio Marte (9-4, 6KO). — “My conditioning got me to win. The work I implemented consistently in the gym next to Freddy and Felix Trinidad Sr. paid off and here is the result of it,” Gonzalez said.

- King Arthur is in ice-cold Helsinki. Team Abraham flew in from Berlin on late Sunday night to continue the preparation for Saturday’s Super Six World Boxing Classic showdown with Carl Froch. The vacant WBC Super-Middleweight Title will also be on the line. “It is great to be back in Finland,” King Arthur said. “It is very cold up here but I like it. We have prepared for the cold weather. I will defeat Froch and accomplish my goal of winning a world title in a second weight class.”

- LoganMcGuinness defeats Adrian Verdugo — Current NABA Lightweight champion Logan McGuinness got a much tougher test than his last time out as the pride of Orangeville, Ontario scored an 8 round unanimous decision over Mexico’s Adrian Verdugo on Saturday night at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. — The bout was intense and competitive with McGuinness showing why he is considered the best Lightweight in the country right now. Despite suffering slight cut over his eye in the early rounds, McGuinness was able to tee off on his Mexican counterpart with some nice body shots with the occasion uppercuts squeaking through. The judges almost all saw it the same way, scoring the contest 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73 for McGuinness who moves to 13-0-1 with 6 KOs. Verdugo sees his 3 fight winning streak come to an end, his ledger slips to 17-3-1 with 14 of those wins coming by knockout.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. possibly fighting Manny Pacquiao next year — In a statement to Mexican news outlet Notimex, WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao, in 2011, was the reason he ruled out a trip to the Philippines to spar with the Filipino fighter. Both Pacquiao and Chavez are trained by Freddie Roach and promoted by Top Rank. Chavez,
“I’m getting ready for my fight against Alfonso Gomez on December 4 in Anaheim, California. I was supposed to go to the Philippines and do sparring with Pacquiao, which is something very important for me, but at the same time, it has been said that Manny could be my opponent next year, and I think in helping him with sparring would be complicated,” said Chavez Jr.

- Odlanier Solis vs Ray Austin — It’s official: unbeaten Cuban heavyweight Odlanier Solis will face tough veteran Ray Austin on December 17th in Miami, with the winner set to face WBC heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko some time next year. — Solis promoter Ahmet Oner announced the fight today, reports Fightnews.com, and the WBC final eliminator is, in his opinion, a fight the Miami-based Cuban will win in commanding style.

- Bute-Brinkley Presser — IBF super middleweight world champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KOs) faced off with mandatory challenger Jesse Brinkley (35-5-5, 22 KOs) at a news conference Wednesday in Montreal for their world title clash on Friday at the Bell Centre. “I’m ready,” vowed the unbeaten champion. “We spent six weeks in Florida to train. I’m prepared. I took it seriously and it will be quite a show.” Brinkley warned Bute not to count him out. “It doesn’t bother me that people think I’m the underdog,” said Brinkley. “Lucian has his hands full with me.”

- Maritime Heavyweight Championship — On October 16, heavyweights Emile Arsenault (2-0-0) of Shediac, NB, and Julien Colette (4-1-0) of Bouctouche, NB, come together for New Generation Productions’ vacant Maritime heavyweight championship at Louis-J-Roubichaud high school in Shediac, New Brunswick. Despite being a ‘title’ fight, the contest is only scheduled for six rounds. New Generation’s cruiserweight Maritime title will also be on the line, as defending champion Guy Desforges (3-2-0) of Dalhousie, NB, takes on undefeated challenger Chris Norrad (5-0-0) of Boisetown, NB, in another six round affair.

- Vitali Klitschko looks really slow in media workout By Dave Lahr: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) looked as slow as molasses in the media workout today in Frankfurt, Germany. Klitschko, 39, danced around the ring, with music playing and tons of reporters snapped photos and took video of it. But Klitschko’s foot movement and hand speed were totally missing. Vitali honestly looked like he was punching in slow motion as he flicked out painfully slow arm punches. That’s pretty much all Vitali threw was arm punches as he danced to the music and frolicked around. He threw punches for awhile at his trainer while was holding puncher’s mitts, but it was still mostly arm punches that Vitali was throwing. (Source Boxingnews24).

- Tarver vs. Aguilera on Friday: light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19 KO’s) begins Friday what he’s hopes will lead to a big money title shot against the world champion Klitschko brothers when he takes on Nagy Aguilera (16-4, 11 KO’s) at the Buffalo Run Casino, in Miami, Oklahoma. Tarver will be turning 42 on November 21st, and yet he hopes to get a world title shot if he can beat two or three heavyweights to prove himself.

- Amir Khan conference — At yesterday’s (5th October) press conference, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) explained what he’s going to do in his next fight against WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) in their December 11th clash in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the press conference Khan seemed to be saying that he’s going to go out and try and slug with Maidana.Khan said “When people say I have a weak chin, I respond by saying that Pacquiao gave me his best shot and couldn’t wobble me. I’m going do something different in this fight, something nobody’s ever seen me do. I’m changing my style. I’m going to come in and be the big puncher. This fight, is going to be explosive.”

- Lucian Bute news — According to the latest boxing news gossip, IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) will be moving up to the light heavyweight division soon to campaign in that division instead of the super middleweight division. What this means is that Bute won’t be facing the winner of the Super Six tournament. Apparently, the tournament is taking too long to complete. Bute would like to fight WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, and that’s a fight that will likely be taking place in late 2011.

- Daniel Ammann vs Oscar Siale — Australian cruiserweight champion Daniel Ammann (19-4-1, 4 KOs) will clash with Oscar Siale (12-6, 4 KOs) of New Zealand over ten rounds at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium in New South Wales, Australia on Friday (8th October). Ammann is coming off a ten round points decision loss to former world rated heavyweight Shane Cameron in 2010 and lost in two rounds to world rated Alexander Alexeev in Germany in 2009. Sial was featured in one of the best Australian fights for 2010 when he dropped a close twelve round points decision to Dominic Vea in a nationally Foxtel televised Commonwealth cruiserweight title bout.

- Antonio Tarver Vs Nagy Aguilera — Former undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion Antonio Tarver and heavyweight Nagy Aguilera participated in a national media conference call to discuss their upcoming heavyweight bout on Friday, Oct. 15, at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla., on ShoBox: The New Generation, live on SHOWTIME® (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast). Tarver, a former undisputed light heavyweight champion and the first man to knock out future Hall of Famer Roy Jones, Jr., will be fighting for the first time as a heavyweight after a hugely successful campaign at 175 pounds. Tarver, of Tampa, Fla., took more than a year off from fighting after his last bout in 2009 and has been serving as an expert commentator for SHOWTIME.

- WBC Turnabout — In a complete turnabout the World Boxing Council (WBC) have announced that Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) and Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) will be fighting for the vacant WBC super middleweight title on November 27th instead of Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) and Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s). This will not be pleasing to boxing fans as the talent and the credibility of the Super Six lies in Dirrell Vs Ward fight. Dan Rafael of ESPN, broke this news, saying “Yet another reason the WBC is disgusting: 1st it says Ward-Dirrell is for vacant 168, Froch-Abe 4 #1. Now, suddenly, Froch-Abe for vacant.” This is so bad. How can you have Froch, who already lost the WBC title to Mikkel Kessler in his last fight in April, being given another immediate shot at the WBC title?

- JESSE MAGDALENO — World amateur sensation JESSE MAGDALENO signed a long-term exclusive promotional contract with Top Rank today. Magdaleno, who campaigned at 119 pounds through most of his career, leaves the amateur ranks with a 120-16 record and six major national titles, including the National Golden Gloves and the U.S. Nationals.

- Former heavyweight contender “Baby” Joe Mesi has been appointed as a deputy commissioner with the New York State Athletic Commission by Chairperson Melvina Lathan. Mesi will be assigned to work in upstate New York overseeing the commission’s rules and regulations, physicals and payments to boxers. “I am honored to be appointed to a great commission, this will keep me close to the boxing game that I love so much,” said Mesi. He feels his biggest contribution in the unpaid position is to make sure the young fighters are treated right and paid accordingly. Mesi has had some well documented problems with the NYSAC in the past but that is all behind him now and he looks to help the Commission in any way he can. “I have had issues with the NYSAC and it is ironic I am a part of it now,” explained Joe. “I see great things with Melvina at the helm and look forward to seeing the sport continue to grow in the State (source fightnews).

- Daniel Dawson Vs Frank La Porto — Australian junior middleweight and former world title challenger Daniel Dawson (34-2, 24 KOs) will return to ring action on Saturday when he will clash with Frank La Porto (12-4-2, 5 KOs) over twelve rounds at the Joondalup Arena, in Western Australia. In his most recent ring outing, Dawson was stopped in ten rounds by WBO 154 pound champion Serhiy Dzinziruk in May. — In the main supporting bout, Australian lightweight Erin McGowan (13-0, 7 KOs) will punch it out with Lyndsey Scragg (10-2, 3 KOs) of England over ten rounds with the WBO female lightweight title up for grabs. – Former IBF 140 pound challenger Naoufell Ben Rabah (30-3, 15 KOs) formerly of Tunisia but now based in Perth, Western Australia will be in action against Marco Tuhumury (7-8-1, 2 KOs) over six rounds in a welterweight contest.

- Amir Khan’s kid brother Haroon made a convincing start to his bid for boxing gold. — (Source Daily Star & BoxingScene) The 19-year-old flyweight is fighting for Pakistan after being snubbed by England but stopped Tanzania’s Sunday Elias in the third round when he was leading 12-1 on points.Haroon’s world champion big brother was straight on the phone to his dad Shah, who was ringside, for a full report.But he also had words of advice for Haroon, who will now face Mauritius’ Gilbert Bactora, before the fight.“He said, ‘Concentrate on the boxing, don’t rush in, don’t dive in with big punches’,” said Haroon. “We do have a laugh,Amir and me, about our rivalry. One day my Commonwealth gold will be next to his Olympic silver medal.”Their proud dad said: “If Haroon gets a gold medal, it will mean the world to us. We have hundreds of medals and trophies at home in England, Haroon’s as well as Amir’s.“A gold from Haroon to go with Amir’s Olympic silver, that would be beautiful. Unfortunately it is not with England – he is boxing for Pakistan. Why is that? You will have to ask the ABA. – “It is politics. Obviously they didn’t rate Haroon.”

- Danny Green news — According to Jean Bedard, President of Groupe Sportscene Inc. and InterBox, IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is at the top of the list for IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute in 2011. Green would have to meet Bute at a catch-weight and defeat BJ Flores on November 17. Bute defends against Jesse Brinkly on October 15 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

- Andre Berto Vs Celestino Caballero — On Saturday, November 27, two of the best young champions in the world – WBC Welterweight World Champion Andre Berto and WBA Super Bantamweight World Champion Celestino Caballero – will both step into the ring on the televised undercard of WBA/WBO/Ring Magazine Lightweight World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez’s title defense against WBO Interim Lightweight World Champion Michael Katsidis from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

- Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. — Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he’s going to match unbeaten middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) up with World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto next in 2011 if Chavez can beat welterweight Alfonso Gomez (22-4-2, 11 KO’s) in their fight on December 4th. In an article at the Orange County Register, Arum says “If he [Chavez Jr.] wins this fight, I’m going to put him in against Miguel Cotto. Cotto is a terrific fighter and he won’t be intimidated by Chavez’s name. Is Julio ready for a challenge like that? I don’t know. I think Freddie [Roach] thinks there’s a lot of potential there, and the last fight [Chavez's 12 round decision win over fringe middleweight contender John Duddy] was definitely a big step.”
