Good Fight Night My FB Kings

By Beverly Cooper

About Mayweather vs. Cotto & Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. “Sugar” Shane Mosley

alt

Good Fight Night My FB Kings; we are just hours away from the bloody deciding factor of who gets to go home with the bragging rights of a World Title or a long tail between their legs, eyes to the ground loss! Being Beverly Cooper Boxing I have the great privilege to write about what I want to… interview who I want to… that being said… yes, the Mayweather vs. Cotto fight is the highlight of the evening. Do I have any predictions? Against one of the best pound for pound fighters known as Floyd “Money” Mayweather.. No of course not. My Mama taught me; If you don’t have anything nice to say.. Keep your mouth shut.

I wish both men, Mayweather and Cotto a clean, dare I say FAIR fight. I’ll leave the talk to the rest of you. Frank Bruno said, “Boxing is just show business with blood.”

I am without a doubt all in for the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. “Sugar” Shane Mosley throw down. Both of these men trained right here in California USA. Boxing trainer Able Sanchez runs ‘The Summit’ boxing gym in Big Bear, California. “That’s where many stars past and present come for their training camps.” Mosley has been extremely relaxed and focused for this fight. Might I say, laid back. The heart of my story is about Canelo. Do you realize this very young man is only 21? His record is 39-0-1 (29KO). Álvarez has fiery red hair and he was given the nickname ‘El Canelo’ (Spanish for cinnamon) by his trainer Jose “Chepo” Reynoso when he was thirteen years old.

Much respect to the entire team of Canelo! Mucho respeto al equipo entero de Canelo! Not only is this team hard working, determined, well managed and humble but they actually care about this sport I love; Boxing! Not just for the money involved but the integrity of this sport!

Jose “Chepo” Reynoso Quotes: “Mosley is very dangerous. He knows that by defeating Canelo he would become a World Champion again. It’s a fight for a World Title. Mosley has defeated every Mexican fighter. No one has ever knocked out Mosley. I think its time that Canelo faces the monsters; the important names in boxing. Now I think he is ready to fight Mosley and knock him out. He is also ready for Mayweather, Cotto and Manny Pacquiao.

We are making history. Fighting Mosley is an historic event. I believe in destiny. But I know.. you have to look for it. Canelo is here because no one has given him anything. It’s the product of our work.”

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Quotes: “Mosley is one of the best fighters and it is an honor to fight him. To me its like a dream to fight someone who is a legend. I have dreamed of becoming a fighter just like him. I never imagined that one day I would fight him. I want to be one of the best fighters in history.”

The final outcome will be between: age, strength, heart, stamina, enthusiasm and the hunger to be victorious (Canelo) vs. age, strength, heart, stamina and pure innate skill (Mosley). No prediction other than the better boxer will win! Am I walking the middle of the fence on this one… hell yes! This will be a final story for one.. And a new life changing story for the other! Being a woman of a certain age I have mad respect for Mosley. I know what the daily physical and mental grind it takes to be a Champion like Mosley. As far as Canelo.. Age is on his side. Not just in this fight, but for powerful longevity in this sport! Rezo para una lucha limpia y justa. ¡Puede el mejor triunfo de hombre!

“Ring Kings” Presser Quotes

Ring Kings

Floyd Mayweather, Seven-Time and Five-Division World Champion

“Miguel is a true warrior, a tough champion and to go into the Hall Of Fame you have to face the best opponents.

“This fight had to happen and I am glad that happened when Miguel was on his own, could call the shots and dictate what he wants.

“Come May 5, I will be at my best. I have been here so many times that I know what it takes.

“I don’t have to brag. I don’t have to boast. Cotto is not a talker. I am outgoing and outspoken. I have a lot of personality. That’s just me.

“If I only would have been a defensive fighter, I would of not have lasted this long in this sport.

“I don’t have to be moving and running. I just have to box. I just have to take my time and whatever happens happens, and whatever plays out, plays out.

“I’m not more relaxed than usual. It’s just I’ve been here. I embrace pressure. I look at it as just another day, another fight.”
Miguel Cotto, Four-Time and Three-Division World Champion

“I’m a quiet guy and I prefer to talk in the ring.

“I had a tremendous camp in Orlando. I put my trust in Pedro [Diaz], in every member of my team and, most importantly, myself.

“All of the work that we put in in Orlando and all the work that we put in here [in Las Vegas], will bring me the victory Saturday night. I am prepared and happy to be here.

“No matter what, I am going to use what I have to fight Floyd. I’m prepared for his style.

“I am going to be the first guy to beat Mayweather.

“Everyone will see my strategy on May 5.”

MIGUEL COTTO Insists He Is At His Best Ever

alt

MIGUEL COTTO insists he is in the form of his life ahead of Saturday’s WBA world super world light-middleweight title defence against Floyd Mayweather.

The biggest fight in the world this year takes place at the MGM Grand Garden, Las Vegas on Saturday night, and will be screened live by BoxNation.

Cotto, 31, has won all four fights since his loss to Manny Pacquiao in December 2009 and back in December avenged his only other defeat hammering Antonio Margarito.

He said: “I am happy with my career and two defeats made me the man that I am today. When your confidence is back you can reach for the top.

“Mayweather has beaten a lot of good fighters, but is facing the best Miguel Cotto ever.

“When I got revenge against Margarito I felt I was back in the game again. I felt much better in myself and this fight has come at the right time for me.”

Although he is naturally the bigger man, it would still be an upset if the Puerto Rican great defeat the world’s number one fighter.

He added: “I don’t need people to give me a chance. The only person who needs to give me a chance is myself. I don’t need people to believe in me.

“Mayweather is facing a guy who can put pressure on him and who can fight.

“He has a lot of skills, but I am ready and going to work for every second of the fight to get the result.”

Mayweather-Cotto For WBC Diamond Belt

alt

When Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Miguel Cotto meet on May 5 there will be even more on the line than Cotto’s WBA super welterweight world championship belt. They will also be fighting for the vacant WBC super welterweight Diamond belt when they step into the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in less than three weeks. “The WBC belt has always been respected by boxers as one of the most prestigious title they can win, and to have the Diamond belt up for grabs in the ‘Ring Kings: Mayweather vs. Cotto’ main event adds even more to this great night,” said Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. “When this fight is over, there will absolutely be no doubt as to who is the best 154-pounder in the world.”
