Fight For Life – Malta, Friday 11 December 2015

It is without a doubt that Billy Corito, alias the “Hitman” is one of Malta’s best known professional boxers. Although he started his boxing career rather late at the age of 28 and turned professional just a couple of years later. Billy has done rather well for himself, with nine wins and just one loss.

Whilst Billy has retained a strong and ever increasing fan base, in recent months he has had some difficulty in getting opportunities to box locally. The lack of offers from local promoters is probably because Billy prefers to box on a German license from the BDB and under the Malta Boxing Commission (MBC) rather than license himself with the Malta Boxing Association, which (as the BDB) is affiliated with the EBU – European Boxing Union.

It seems that Billy is getting ostracised or shunned by some local promoters, who may be under the impression that if Billy Corito was to be included on their fight-card they might fail to get sanctioning for their event.

However where there is a will there is a way and Billy is soon back in the ring as the main attraction in “Fight For Life” a boxing night in aid of Caritas (Non-profit Charity Organisation).

This time around Billy will be facing a tough proposition in the form of LEE KELLETT, a professional boxer who hails from the UK and is a former participant of Euro Sport’s popular “Bigger’s Better” boxing competition.

The undercard of Fight For Life consists of no less than ten promising fights.
