NEWS RELEASE – World Boxing Federation a.s.b.l. (WBF)

Pegada Explosiva, Montes vs. Ibarra For WBF World Title

In what promises to be an exciting and fan-friendly fight, fellow Mexicans, Juan Jose Montes and Oscar Ibarra will clash for the vacant World Boxing Federation World Super Flyweight Championship at the Coliseo Olimpico de la UG in Guadalajara on February 25, on a show promoted by Hector Garcia and his HG Boxing.

Both boxers fight in the characteristic come-forward-style that Mexican boxers are known for, both are young and hungry, and both have significant power in their punches, so it seems unlikely that this will be anything but a fantastic fight for the fans to watch.

Now 22 years old, Juan Jose “Goofy” Montes (21-2, 14 KOs) has been a pro since he was only seventeen years old. He won his first seven bouts by stoppage before suffering a setback against Jesus Ceja at the very same venue as he will face Ibarra for the WBF World title.

Montes emerged victories from his next twelve fights, won various regional titles along the way, and defeated several top-class opponents, such as the undefeated Jose Salgado (18-0) whom he impressively knocked out in two rounds, to line up a shot at WBC World Champion Tomas Rojas last year.

In what was not one of his best nights in the ring, Montes retired before the start of the twelfth round against Rojas but gained valuable experience that he will try to utilize in his second shot at a world crown against Ibara. Since losing to Rojas, Montes has come back with two emphatic knockout victories, and believes he is better prepared this time to come out on top.

Just like his opponent on the 25th, Oscar Ibarra (27-5, 18 KOs) has won several regional belts, but unlike Montes he has yet to fight for a world title. After winning thirteen of his first fourteen fights, Ibarra had a horrific 2008, losing three of his four bouts that year.

But from the beginning of 2009 the now 26 year old from Mexico City turned things around and won thirteen straight to establish himself as a world-class operator. There is always a lot of local pride on the line when Mexicans fight each other, and especially when they fight for a world title. But there are never any guarantees that a fight will be entertaining. However, some pairings come as close as is possible to a guarantee, and Montes vs. Ibarra is such a match-up. It is bound to be explosive!

Paul David To Face Travis Dickinson On 25th Feb – At Light Heavy

English Super Middleweight Champion Paul David is set to face Prizefighter – Light Heavyweight winner Travis Dickinson on the undercard of the Frank Maloney/Tommy Gilmore promoted Denis Shafikov versus Lee McAllister European Light Welterweight Title fight the Exhibition Centre in Aberdeen on Saturday 25th February.

Speaking earlier David, who will be making his first outing under the guidance of his new manager/coach TRAD TKO’s Johnny Eames, made it clear that he was relishing the prospect, “Yeah, I can’t wait, the fights on the undercard of Lee McAllister. I’ve fought up there before and Lee McAllister always sells out, so it’s going to be a packed hall.

I see Travis Dickinson earlier in his career, I didn’t think too much of him so was a bit surprised when he won Prizefighter at Light Heavy.

He’s going to be well prepared and up for it, but I’ve been here at the TKO about a month and half now and have been sparring with Leon (Williams), when he was British Champion, and had no problem with him. There’s Mitchell Balker from the Netherlands and I’ve had no problem with any of these guys.

They’re bigger guys than me but I use my speed and boxing skills to get around them, I’ll deal with Travis Dickinson the same way.

After I’ve dealt with Travis Dickinson I’m going to be looking for a British title fight, either the winner of Tony Bellew-Danny McIntosh or maybe I can get George Groves in the ring, hopefully Frank Warren can take his nappy off him and put him in with me like a real fighter.

I’ll get this fight out of the way then see what Johnny can do for me. All I want is either a serious English title defense, one that really means something, you know Robin Reid beat Daniel Cadman so maybe he’ll have the stones to step in the ring with me and we can start something like a British title eliminator so I can get at George Groves after he takes out his old foe Kenny Anderson.

Yeah, so it’s either Light Heavyweight or Super Middleweight works for me, even Cruiserweight, which is kind of weak at the moment, three divisions is open to me and I’m ready for all of them, I’m just ready to go.”

Johnny Eames then expanded on how the Dickinson fight was made, “Yeah, obviously since he joined us we have been trying to get Paul a fight, in the short time he’s been with us we have had numerous offers of fights, but each time the fight got close we heard nothing more.

I suppose we’ve had twelve different opponents he was going to have, including an English title defense against Patrick Mendy, which didn’t come around for no fault of our own.

Then Travis Dickinson was available, so I made the call to Frank Maloney and he said yes, so we can now get this show on the road and see what we’ve got.

This fights a six rounder at Light Heavyweight, not Super Middleweight – you know it’s a case of this week Light Heavyweight next week Super Middleweight with Paul, as all he wants to do is fight.”

Paul David against Travis Dickenson features on the undercard of the Denis Shafikov versus Lee McAllister’s European Light Welterweight title bout at the Exhibition Centre in Aberdeen on Saturday, 25th February.

Undefeated “Corpus Christi Kid” Signs with Main Events

Totowa, NJ – Super Featherweight boxer Jerry Belmontes of Corpus Christi, Texas, 15-0, 5 KOs, has signed a promotional deal with Northern New Jersey based Main Events, it was announced today by promoter Kathy Duva.

An outstanding amateur fighter who won numerous tournaments and made it to the semi-finals of the USA Olympic Trials in 2008, Belmontes (15-0, 5 KO’s) has built a large local fan base in Texas as he has swept through the first chapter of his career as a professional.

Known as the “Corpus Christi Kid”, Belmontes defeated Justo Vallecillo by 6-round unanimous decision in his most recent bout on June 24, 2011. After a nine-month layoff, Belmontes looks forward to getting back in the ring and fighting the rest of his way to the top.

“Everyone in the boxing world knows Main Events. They are a big company that can get me where I need to be in the rankings, and into a world title fight,” said Belmontes. “That’s what I want. Fighting is what I do.”

Manager, Adrian Clark added, “Jerry is a big star in Corpus Christi, and the rest of the world is going to love him too. I call him the Mexican Floyd Mayweather. He’s a speed fighter who prides himself on his defense and not getting touched.”

“Jerry has all the attributes that we look for in a fighter,” Duva said. “He is skilled and exciting, he has a large local fan following in Corpus and he has the potential to become a world champion. We are delighted to add Jerry to the Main Events roster and expect great things from him going forward.” She continued, “we are also excited to return to Corpus Christi, where Main Events has promoted many fights in the past. Corpus has always been one of my favorite cities.”

Belmontes joins Main Events as one of its elite young prospects, and is expected to fight under the promoter’s banner for the first time in May in a bout to be televised on Telefutura’s Solo Boxeo Tecate. Details about the show will be released in the coming weeks.

Two Big Heavyweight Bouts Added to NBC Sports Network Fight Night’s Blockbuster Judah-Paris Show

The White Wolf, Sergei Liakhovich will take on Philadelphia’s hot Bryant Jennings in a 10-round co-feature, while heavyweight Tomasz Adamek makes his first ring appearance since facing Heavyweight King Vitali Klitschko on Saturday, March 24th when the NBC Sports Network’s “Fight Night” boxing series comes to Brooklyn’s Aviator Sports Complex. In the main event of the evening, Brooklyn’s Zab Judah takes on unbeaten Junior Welterweight Vernon Paris in a mandated fight for the #1 position in the IBF.

Jennings, 12-0, 5 KO’s, who made an enormous hit with the NBC Sports Network audience, last month, when he stepped into the main event on just five days’ notice on the inaugural “Fight Night” broadcast and captured the Pennsylvania Heavyweight Title in an exciting 12-round brawl with Maurice Byarm, will face one of the big men who he replaced that night. Liakhovich, 25-4, 16 KO’s, caught a tough break just a few days earlier when no suitable opponent could be found to replace top contender Eddie Chambers on short notice when he suffered two broken ribs in sparring and had to withdraw. Always ready to do battle in the ring, Liakhovich was anxious to get back on the fight calendar as soon as possible.

Liakhovich, “I am glad to be fighting on NBC Sports Network. I look forward to my fight with Jennings. I like fighting guys who appreciate a challenge like me. I am in great shape and can’t wait to get back in the ring.”

Russell Peltz of Peltz Boxing said that Jennings was eager to get back in the ring, “We feel we should strike while the iron is hot. Why go backwards after the win over Byarm?”

A former World Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight and IBF International Heavyweight champion, Adamek, 44-2, 28 KO’s, is equally anxious to begin his climb back up to the top of the heavyweight rankings with his first ever appearance in Brooklyn. A suitable opponent is being sought and his name will be released shortly.

“This show is shaping up to be quite extraordinary,” promoter Kathy Duva said. “There will be excitement from start to finish and I’m sure that every boxing fan who can’t get a ticket won’t want to miss the broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.”

Gary Quinn, Sr. Director of Programming & Acquisitions NBC Sports Group added, “We are pleased with the high caliber of the March 24th card from top to bottom. We are building on the positive momentum we established with our January 21 show. Fans will be able to tune in for another fantastic night of boxing March 24th on NBC Sports Network Fight Night.”

Tickets to the blockbuster triple-header, priced at $200, $100 and $75 and may be purchased by calling Peltz Boxing, (215) 765-0922 , or online through www.peltzboxing.com. The non-televised undercard fights will begin at 7:30 p.m., the NBC Sports Network Fight Night broadcast will begin at 10 p.m. ET on Mar 24th.

The usually true and prophetic adage: “you and run but you can’t hide” became a truism during a press conference held in Montreal (2/15) to promote the highly publicized 2/18 title fight between Haitian born Adonis “Superman” Stevenson and American Jesus “El Martillo ” Gonzales at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. For years, it was rumored that Stevenson was arrested during his late teenage years for pimping and assaulting underage girls; but, Montreal Police refused to confirm or deny the allegations when asked by a relentless reporter who eventually emailed members of the Canadian press asking for help. He got his wish. On Wednesday, Stevenson’s past was brought up by Montreal Gazette reporter Herb Zurkowsky who addressed the issue, at the press conference, and the 34 year-old Stevenson, taken by surprise, admitted to serving 18 months in a Bordeaux jail on charges of managing prostitutes, assault and making threats. His belated public confession answers the basic questions, but he failed to elaborate on whether he received professional treatment for his bizarre behaviour. Jail time isn’t considered the best therapy for someone convicted of peddling sex, assault and making threats. He now lives with his girlfriend of four years and their two children in Longueuil, a suburb of Montreal. The event promoter, Yvon Michel, was quick to point out that Stevenson was never found guilty of rape, sexual assault or aggravated assault, as Jesus Gonzales allegedly suggested. Regardless of his actual sins, the southpaw fighter with a 16-1 record will never be offered a role in a Disney film and women may boycott his fights. Simply put, his “Superman” image took a major hit.

The disclosure opens up a discussion on whether or not Stevenson’s ring performance will be affected by the news and how much did his new trainer (Emanuel Steward) know about the incident and conviction. Steward wasn’t at the press conference but the same unnamed relentless reporter placed a call to Steward’s business office in Detroit and the associate told the journalist that the Hall of Fame Trainer had a computer in his office and he always did a thorough search on his prospective clients . Apparently, he didn’t google enough.

Gonzales ,27-1, said the surreal disclosure will not alter his ring strategy and the Phoenix, Arizona Native predicted an upset victory over the hard punching Stevenson. The 27 year-old Gonzales (also a southpaw) trained in Calgary, Alberta because of the higher altitude and colder climate. Also, his promoter Fanbase is partially based there and it is the home of Light Middleweight Janks Trotter, the #1 sparring partner of Gonzales. Coincidentally, According to Gonzales, he will be wearing a logo on his trunks that expresses his support for Natalie’s House, a women’s shelter in Arizona that helps teenage girls recover from sexual exploitation and abuse. Gonzales categorically denied using Stevenson’s criminal past as a ploy to mess with his foe’s head. For the record, Gonzales has been cited numerous times for his community service in Phoenix; including a campaign to help cancer patient Erin Goodwin get an expensive Medical Machine in her battle to ward off infection stemming from her double mastectomy surgery in 2010.

Fight Now TV (PPV) will televise the contest on Saturday, 2/18 and at stake is Stevenson’s four minor belts and the right to challenge IBF Super Middleweight King Lucian Bute for his Crown. 1st bell is set for 7 pm , Montreal time.

Photos and Report by Gianluca (Rio) Di Caro

‘Mighty’ Kevin Mitchell made a welcome return to the ring on Friday night, when he took on Spain based Dominican Felix Lora in a ten round non-championship bout in front of a packed house at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The Dagenham Destroyer seemed unfazed that the bout was touted as just a warm up bout, ahead of a summer showdown with WBO Lightweight World Champion Ricky Burns, as Mitchell seemed almost as fired up as he was when he faced John Murray back last year.

Whilst it wasn’t the liveliest of starts, as both fighters felt each other out, it soon livened up and see Mitchell using his incredibly accurate jab and superior movement to frustrate Lora.

Late on the raucous crowd jumped to their feet, as Lora fell to the canvas. The cheers faded as soon as they realised it was just a slip, but seconds later the crowd were back on their feet as Mitchell went straight back on the attack.

A much livelier start to the second round see Mitchell start to pressure Lora, picking him off with ease utilising his jab and some powerful rights to the body, and it wasn’t long before the big crowd were on their feet cheering again, as again Lora made a visit to the canvas, this time it was the real deal.

Lora had started to apply some pressure of his own, Mitchell used his excellent movement to avoid everything Lora threw at him before letting rip with a wickedly quick and accurate countering left.

After the count Mitchell went straight on the attack in a very controlled way, Lora used his head and grabbed hold of the advancing Mitchell. Once his head had cleared Lora tried to keep Mitchell on the backfoot, however Mitchell with his back to the rope proves to an extremely elusive target.

For the next few rounds Mitchell produced a boxing masterclass par excellence, easily controlling the rounds using his world class ring craft. Just as comfortable on the backfoot as he is on the attack Mitchell would pick off Lora, with sharp jabs, lightning fast one twos and uppercuts, at will each time the Dominican came in range.

Lora was fired up big time when he came out for the fifth, he was angry and full of vengeful intention. Virtually every punch the Dominican threw was fully loaded, however whilst he had Mitchell on the back foot and defending, the Dagenham man’s ring craft is honed to perfection.

Just as in the Murray fight, Mitchell backed on the rope is an elusive target, virtually every exocet Lora fired was avoided with comparable ease, that is until the Dominican landed a peach that shook Mitchell. Lora then turned up the pressure but Mitchell is well savvy and boxed beautifully off the backfoot as Lora chased him around the ring.

Lora must have thought that another one his bombs had penetrated Mitchell’s excellent defense in the final seconds, as Mitchell went down, after slipping on water close to Lora’s corner.

It got a little heated as the round concluded, Mitchell and Lora stood their ground, squared up to one another and pushed their foreheads together in an old fashioned face off fashion until referee Richie Davis intervened and dispatched the pair to their respective corners.

Mitchell’s coach, Jimmy Tibbs, calmed his charge before start of the sixth, and normal service resumed. Mitchell again was in full control, utilising his exquisite jab to control the next couple of rounds with ease.

Lora was again fired up at the start of the tenth and final round, going straight on the attack with massive exocets. Mitchell, again with his back to the ropes, avoided the Dominican’s big overhand rights with ease.

Mitchell then turned the tables on Lora in the final minute and let rip with a big right hand that had ‘lights out’ written all over it. In an instant Lora throws his arms around Mitchell to buy a few precious seconds in which to clear his head to enable him to see the round out.

No surprise Mitchell gets the nod from referee Richie Davies, quite rightly, by a 98-92 points margin.

Word is ‘Mighty’ Mitchell will do one more warm up bout before facing Ricky Burns at Upton Park in the Summer. Taking it on Friday’s performance I personally don’t think he needs it. Whilst yes he cruised his way through big parts of the bout, he also showed that he could step things up whenever he needed to and his defensive ringcraft was faultless throughout. It was a five star performance by Dagenham’s finest, even without the incentive of adding another belt to his collection.

Preceding Mitchell-Lora see Penge’s ‘Super’ Bradley Skeete easily outclass Hungarian challenger Laszlo Komjathi in an eight rounder.

As with Mitchell, Skeete put on a masterclass display to easily out point Komjathi, who has previously fought such stalwarts as Giuseppi Lauri, Michael Jennings, Rafal Jackiewicz, Marcos Maidana and Andriy Kotelnik.

Komjathi likes to box of the front foot, which played into Skeete’s hands as he could pick off the Hungarian at will, with stiff jabs and three punch combinations, each time he came in range.

Routine stuff for the first couple of rounds, but come the third Skeete took the fight to Komjathi, making life very uncomfortable for the Hungarian after forcing him onto the back foot.

Skeete was in a groove, letting rip with all manner of tasty shots, and around the midway point of the third a cracking combo, finished off with a right to the jaw see Komjathi’s legs go to jelly, whilst he didn’t actually go down his gloves touched the canvas and earned him a standing count.

Surprisingly Skeete didn’t go in hard and fast to finish the Hungarian off, but seemed content to showcase his skills for the adoring fans.

Komjathi was back on the front foot for the next couple of rounds, however Skeete remained unfazed and seemed content to just parry and counter his ever forward coming opponent to easily secure the rounds.

Skeete went back on the offensive in the penultimate and final rounds, easily forcing his durable opponent onto the backfoot for large parts of each stanza. Skeete also seemed to be putting more power behind his punches, shaking his opponent on numerous occasions, as he cruised his way to a tidy 80-71 points victory.

Prior to Skeete-Komjathi, Kevin Mitchell’s big hitting TRAD TKO Gym mate Frankie Buglioni took on super tough Ryan Clark, from Lincolnshire.

Big ticket seller Buglioni entered the arena to a standing ovation from the massive crowd, who continued their chanting throughout the bout as the Enfield man started fast, looking for his third early stoppage finish in three outings.

Clark, normally a crowd pleasing battler himself, was taken aback by the constant wave after wave of heavy double handed attacks and instead of going toe to toe with the man that has stopped both previous opponents, Sabie Montieth and Paul Morby, inside the first round, went defensive and covered up for long periods of the early rounds.

Unpreturbed Buglioni just kept attacking at pace to totally dominate the first couple of rounds.

More of the same in the first half third. However, after made a trip to the canvas, deemed a slip, it was Buglioni who had his resolve tested for the first time since turning pro back in November last year. As Buglioni went on the attack yet again, Clark countered with cracking right hook. Clark went on the offensive following up with a succession of big overhand rights and lefts to the body.

Normal service resumed in the fourth and final round, with Buglioni comfortably back in the driving seat, keeping up the pressure on Clark until the final bell.

No surprise when referee Bob Williams raised Buglioni’s arm in victory, declaring him the winner by 40-36 points margin.

Former Amateur star Bradley Saunders made an impressive start to his professional career, by stopping Jason Nesbitt in the third round of their scheduled six rounder.

Right from the off Saunders showed his class, bombarding the body of the highly durable Birmingham journeyman. In the second Saunders mixed it up a bit, throwing slick uppercuts, seriously stiff jabs and soul destroying right crosses to the head.

Saunders reverted to the body in the third and it came as no surprise to anyone when Nesbitt appeared hurt, by a vicious shot to the solar plexus. In an instant Saunders moved in for the kill, the first shot misses and as he is just about to let rip with another big body shot referee Bob Williams steps in to stop the bout on the two minutes and fifty seven second mark.

Undefeated in five Billy Morgan, another of Kevin Mitchell’s TRAD TKO Gym mates, took on Gants Hill’s Dan Naylor in a six rounder.

Round one to five were Morgan all the way, throughout the rounds the Canning Town youngster produced yet another masterclass, thoroughly out boxing the game Naylor and showcasing his fully loaded arsenal of punches.

Naylor stepped up the pace in the final round, to gain some limited success, but not enough to deprive Morgan of a clear 60-55 points victory.

Prio to Morgan-Naylor yet another TRAD TKO Gym boxer, Gary Corcoran, made his second pro outing, against Tamworth’s Matt Seagrave.

Right from the off Corcoran dominated the proceedings, his slick, yet powerful boxing style was way too much for 57 fight veteran Seagrave, who had to resort to covering up for much of the fight as Corcoran fired salvo after salvo to his body and head.

It came as no surprise when referee Bob Williams called a halt to the proceedings in the third after a particularly vicious flurry of shots had clearly hurt the Tamworth man.

The opening fight of the night see yet another TRAD TKO based fighter Ediz ‘Eddy’ Hussein made his second pro outing, against Barking’s Marc Callaghan.

Ediz, who is trained by his father – former Commonwealth Light Welterweight Champion Mo Hussein, showed all the class of his illustrious father, easily controlling the bout form start to finish to earn a tidy 39-37 points victory.

What a Friday night it was in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) as Dynamo Moscow completely overwhelmed the visiting Astana Arlans to leapfrog them in the table. Mexico City Guerreros turned on the style with a resounding win against the Istanbul Bosphorus. Dolce & Gabbana Milano Thunder power past Bangkok Elephants and Baku Fires sensationally beat the Leipzig Leopards to make it nine wins in nine so far this season.

Match of the week
Baku Fires proved once again they mean business this season, with a display of real quality that showcased the strength in depth of their squad. Travelling to Germany to face a strong Leipzig Leopards in Group B, the Azeri outfit were rampant from the off. Magomed Abdulhamidov worked tirelessly against two-time Nordic Champion Dennis Ceylan to take the points win in the Bantamweight fight before 27-year-old Semen Grivachev proved totally dominant against the promising Artur Bril. Belarusian Mikalai Vesialou then gave the Baku Fires an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the tie with a display full of panache against German Middleweight Stefan Härtel. Kevin Künzel restored some pride for the Leipzig Leopards and gave the packed crowds at the Maritim Hotel in Haale something to cheer about as he outboxed Vatan Huseyni to win the Light Heavyweight contest. Haji Murtuzaliyev made it a convincing night for the visitors as he emphatically TKO’d Philip Grüner in the second round to give the Baku Fires an impressive 4:1 win and remain undefeated this season.

Thrashing of the week
Istanbul Bosphorus saw their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals take a huge blow after being on the receiving end of a boxing lesson at home to the Mexico City Guerreros. No one could have predicted such a scoreline but the visitors were simply irresistible on the night. 20-year-old orthodox Mexican Elias Emigdia moved up to second in the Bantamweight Individual rankings with a classy points victory over Turkey’s Abdullah Dursun before a Juan Romero TKO in the Lightweight contest gave the Guerreros a 2-0 lead. Dmytro Mytrofanov quickly wrapped up the match for the Mexican outfit with a second round TKO after flooring his opponent with a vicious right hook to the face. Stylish Kennedy Katende was made to work hard for his victory but the Swedish southpaw found what was needed to win against Caner Sayak. It was a great night for the Mexico City Guerreros, who triumphed 5:0 to move up to second in Group B.

Fight of the week
Dynamo Moscow’s 27-year-old Vazgen Safaryants is really making a name for himself in this competition. The Belarusian southpaw came through his toughest test so far with an enhanced reputation, as he outpointed last season’s top ranked Lightweight Yerzhan Mussafirov. Constantly hounding down his opponent, the hard-hitting Safaryants’ aggressiveness paid dividends against the fleet-footed Mussafirov. This was a fight of the highest calibre between two fighters of real pedigree. Going toe-to-toe throughout the five rounds, this was a real boxing spectacle.

The teams now have only two matches left to decide their final league positions. Crucial time for the boxers too as they run out of opportunities to get those valuable points that will help them make the Individual Finals. High-intensity fights guaranteed.

Starting off, we have the clash of the Eastern titans as Dynamo Moscow hosts the Astana Arlans in the Russian capital before a strong Leipzig Leopards face the undefeated Baku Fires. Istanbul Bosphorus will look to assert their authority against the confident Mexico City Guerreros and the Dolce & Gabbana Milano Thunder team welcome the Bangkok Elephants in Italy as the quarter-finals loom large.

The intimate Aviator has hosted several boxing events in the past, but this bout, to be televised as part of the new Fight Night Boxing Series on the NBC Sports Network, will be its biggest boxing event, by far. The non-televised undercard fights will begin at 7:30 p.m., the NBC Sports Network Fight Night broadcast will begin at 10 p.m. ET on Mar 24th.

Rated number four in the world by the IBF and a new face in the junior welterweight division, Paris has an unblemished record of 26-0, 15 KO’s. He and Judah, (41-7, 28 KO’s), the charismatic former five-time world champion in the junior welterweight and welterweight ranks, will face off in a classic crossroads fight. The winner will become the mandatory challenger for the IBF’s newly-crowned Junior Welterweight king, Lamont Peterson of Washington, D.C.

Judah, who expressed his delight at the prospect of making his Brooklyn debut enthused, “All I want to say is, I love Brooklyn!!!”

Vernon Paris was not shy when he challenged Judah, ” If you think Kostya Tszyu had him dancing in the ring wait ’til you see what I’m going to do Zab! He will be ready for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ or at least as a back up dancer in one of his friends videos.”

“Since the inception of our talks about the NBC Sports Network Fight Night Boxing Series, fights like this one have been our focus,” promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events, explained. “Interesting, competitive crossroads matches like Judah-Paris will be the backbone of this project. Since word of this match-up began to leak out leading up to last month’s purse bid, reaction from fans has been extremely positive. Main Events is proud to be able to give Zab the opportunity to fight in Brooklyn for the first time. There is no doubt that this will be an exciting night for both the fans in the arena and those who will be watching on NBC Sports Network.”

During his speech, Hon.
The Parliamentary Secretary explained how these scholarship schemes have the aim to promote sports as something that can be taken to a professional level and not only as a hobby. He also stated the importance that a change in mentality needs to take place, so that sports will be seen as something professional, and also as an economic contributor. Hon. Puli continued by saying that through these sponsorship schemes, Government is encouraging the specialisation at a professional level resulting in better human resources to administer and organise sport facilities and events, more professional training of athletes, and also the improving of auxiliary support such as that provided by doctors and physiotherapists.

Hon. Puli stated that these schemes are aimed at both athletes who aim at improving their professional training in their field, and also students who would like to obtain qualifications from recognised institutes is subjects such as
