Osman Yigin Back In Malta: 4-6 September
World Thai Boxing Champion Back In Malta

From the 4-6 of September Ying Yang Kickboxing club will organise a Thai Boxing seminar with former World Champion Osman Yigin
By Reuben Azzopardi
Osman has a record of 198 matches in Kickboxing, K-1 and Thai Boxing and has won 16 World Titles and 28 European Titles. He is one of the most famousThai Boxers in the World Kickboxing Network (WKN).
This will be the second time that Osman will teach in Malta and the seminar will be spread on 3 days from 6pm to 8pm each day and will be held at Ying Yang Kickboxing Club in Fgura. Osman will be accompanied with two of his top professional fighters, Lello Perego and Allan Polek Gozdzicki, who on their part have World Titles as well. Together they will teach techniques in K1, Thai Boxing and clinching.
Osman came to Malta for the first time back in 2009 as a judge for the first ever WKN Kickboxing World Cup organised by the Maltese branch of the WKN. In 2011 a group of four kickboxers together with Master Noel Mercieca, founder of Ying Yang Kickboxing, went to Belgium to practice with Osman for a four day training camp.
The friendship between Osman and Master Mercieca is a clear example of Martial Arts cooperation. Due to his experience in the field of professinal competition Osman is at the same time teaching Master Mercieca in professional training for the Maltese athletes.
All Maltese clubs are invited to participate in this seminar, early bookings are recommended as limited spaces are available. For more information regarding the seminar please visit the website www.yingyangkickboxing.com or contact Master Noel Mercieca on 79208283 or merciecanoel@yahoo.co.uk

Training “The Raging Pain”

..
Beverly Talks About The Pain And Self-Strength Required In A Fighter Training At Championship Level
By Beverly Cooper
June 2012
In this corner is the fierce mistress calling out daily for a pound of broken flesh, buckets of sweat and your tears of agony from strained muscles. Coaches cursing, trainers yelling, agents planning, promoters pushing while climbing the never-ending golden blood spattered ladder towards a Title Championship, we have Training “The Raging Pain”.
In this corner craving carbs, water weight, burning muscles, sexless nights and sparring injuries. Long runs going nowhere, party people shouting out but the ‘grind’ has to take precedence. Haters hating, many lonely moments questioning your worth, we have Complaining “The Verbal Purification of Evil”.
I have had lengthy conversations with trainers, coaches and promoters that want to ‘will’ their boxers/fighters to train like champions. Who believe more in their boxers/fighters than they do in themselves. How do you pull out undying determination from your boxers/fighters? How do you translate the true meaning of motivation to a boxer/fighter that gives and takes punches for a living? How, when the trainer, coaches and promotion team are safely on the outside of the ring when the bell tolls? Even if you have been in the ring yourself how do you get in this boxers/fighters head? Trainers, coaches, sparing partners, agents, promotion team – everyone has a job. That is where I come in! I have the behavioral psychology back round to individually and specifically center into each boxers/fighters lack of self-strength. Self-strength is to a boxer/fighter as self-esteem is to a respected commissioned business man. Self-strength is to a boxer/fighter as self-worth is to a super model. Self-strength is to a boxer/fighter as self-awareness is to a Marine in a combat zone. A boxers/fighters self-strength is not just the physical but also those deep, dark and private thoughts that block the way to a Title Championship. Not limited to but including; secret family moments away from the camera’s.
Floyd Mayweather is spending 23 hours a day alone to marinate on his secret family moments. Mayweather requested that he be released from jail 10 days into his sentence because the low-quality food and water have threatened his health. For the next 90 days, so sayth Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa, Floyd Mayweather is going to eat and drink what he is given behind bars in Las Vegas. Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich said, “It’s jail, where did Mayweather think he was going? The Four Seasons? Only 10 days in and Floyd Mayweather is loosing his “Self-strength”! Not limited to but including; the Flying Carpet Syndrome.. Being bigger than life, going where you want to when you want to. Money to spend not to count.
Above and beyond the regular Joe. Manny Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee, has encouraged an extreme lifestyle change that has seen the boxing champion scrap his well-known late-night partying and gambling habits. Word is Pacquiao wants to improving his public image in the Philippines. Is Jinkee behind all the life changes? Famous for keeping odd hours and often sleeping into the afternoon, Pacquiao has now begun to get out of bed early in the morning, along with his wife, and throwing himself into an assortment of political, social and religious projects. Looks like someone’s self-strength is being squeezed by the balls. Read between the lines !
Professional athletes all require a level of self-strength. In American football, a sport played between two teams of eleven. Players are offense, defense, or special teams, everyone has a job! Teams are allowed unlimited substitutions that are teams may change any number of players after any play. At the start of a soccer match with a full complement for each team, there are two sides of eleven, everyone has a job! When playing hockey there are six on the ice at any one time. Two Defensemen, 2 forwards, 1 center, 1 goalie, everyone has a job! In a typical National Basketball Association regulation game the number of players allowed is five (5) per team, for ten (10) players. You can substitute freely in basketball. Players may be taken out of a game and then put back into a game. There is no limit to the amount of times a player can be taken out and put into a game. Except when ’fouls’ are involved. Everyone has a job! In baseball there are nine players on the field… There are three outfielders, three basemen, a shortstop, a pitcher and a catcher. You can substitute but there will always be nine on each team. Everyone has a job! I know you can see where I am going with this… In Boxing/MMA it is you and your opponent. Face to face, toe to toe, no more practice it is the real deal. No other ‘teammates’ to pick up the slack. No other ‘teammates’ to defer to when the going gets rough. No other ‘teammates’ to lean on when that TKO is being broadcast from the ring referee.
These are Warrior sports without a doubt. Boxing and MMA are the closest any of us will get to the old world Roman days of the Gladiator. Gladiator games provided their sponsors with extravagantly expensive but effective opportunities for self-promotion while offering cheap, exciting entertainment to their clients. Gladiators became big business for trainers and owners, for politicians on the make and those who had reached the top. Gladiator – Boxer – Same – Same ?
Heavyweight Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell says; “The only thing I really miss (about football) is the team camaraderie. Boxing is a lonely sport.” Seth was a star linebacker at Michigan State before knee injuries ended his career. Seth took up boxing in 2006. To date Seth’s record stands at; 25 win (19 KO) 0 lost 1 draw. Last fight was against veteran boxer Chazz Witherspoon April 28, 2012. Seth took Chazz down twice in the third round of a scheduled twelve round fight to obtain the vacant WBO NABO Heavyweight Title. Again Congratulations Seth! That belt looks good on you!
When you need Self-Strength; with quickness get to your boxing gym !
When you can’t lift your eyes to yearn for the future; escape in boxing !
When you don’t feel the suns heat on your face glazed in tears; reach for your gloves !
When the haters hate; take a long run, feel your core strength and remember YOU ARE an Alpha Male !
